Background: China faces various public health emergencies, and emergency responders at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC emergency responders) are a mainstay in responding to public health emergencies. Career resilience can help CDC emergency responders to effectively respond to and recover from public health emergencies, but there is no specific measurement instrument available. In this study, we aimed to develop and conduct an initial validation of the career resilience instrument for CDC emergency responders in China within the context of public health emergencies from a process perspective. Methods: Based on a survey conducted in Shanghai, interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA), which is a qualitative research approach to describing and analyzing individual experiences, was used to analyze the interview texts to develop the initial career resilience instrument for CDC emergency responders. The initial career resilience instrument was revised through two rounds of expert consultation. Cronbach's α coefficient and exploratory factor analysis were used to test the reliability and validity of the revised career resilience instrument. Results: The initial career resilience instrument for CDC emergency responders contained three first-level measurement dimensions, 9 second-level measurement dimensions, and 52 measurement items. After expert consultation, the first-level and second-level measurement dimensions were not revised, 13 measurement items were deleted or revised, and six measurement items were added, resulting in 48 measurement items. The revised career resilience instrument was tested for good reliability and validity. Conclusion: Career resilience for CDC emergency responders can be regarded as a set of protective factors and dynamic processes that can be cultivated and intervened in cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions to improve their ability to respond to and recover from public health emergencies.

Jaceosidin (JAC) is a natural flavonoid with anti-oxidant and other pharmacological activities; however, its anti-cancer mechanism remains unclear. We investigated the mechanism of action of JAC in gastric cancer cells. Cytotoxicity and apoptosis assays showed that JAC effectively killed multiple gastric cancer cells and induced apoptosis in human gastric adenocarcinoma AGS cells via the mitochondrial pathway. Network pharmacological analysis suggested that its activity was linked to reactive oxygen species (ROS), AKT, and MAPK signaling pathways. Furthermore, JAC accumulated ROS to up-regulate p-JNK, p-p38, and IκB-α protein expressions and down-regulate the p-ERK, p-STAT3, and NF-κB protein expressions. Cell cycle assay results showed that JAC accumulated ROS to up-regulate p21 and p27 protein expressions and down-regulate p-AKT, CDK2, CDK4, CDK6, Cyclin D1, and Cyclin E protein expressions to induce G0/G1 phase arrest. Cell migration assay results showed JAC accumulated ROS to down-regulate Wnt-3a, p-GSK-3ß, N-cadherin, and ß-catenin protein expressions and up-regulate E-cadherin protein expression to inhibit migration. Furthermore, N-acetyl cysteine pre-treatment prevented the change of these protein expressions. In summary, JAC induced apoptosis and G0/G1 phase arrest and inhibited migration through ROS-mediated signaling pathways in AGS cells.

Isocryptomerin (ISO) is a flavonoid isolated from the natural medicine Selaginellae Herba, which has various pharmacological activities. This study investigated the antitumor effect and underlying molecular mechanism of ISO on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) HepG2 cells. The cell viability assay revealed that ISO has a considerable killing effect on HCC cell lines. The apoptosis assay showed that ISO induced mitochondria-dependent apoptosis through the Bad/cyto-c/cleaved (cle)-caspase-3/cleaved (cle)-PARP pathway. The network pharmacological analysis found 13 key target genes, and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), AKT, mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), and reactive oxygen species (ROS) signaling pathways were strongly associated with ISO against HCC. Further verification of the results showed that ISO induced apoptosis by increasing p-p38 and p-JNK expression and decreasing p-EGFR, p-SRC, p-ERK, and p-STAT3 expression. Furthermore, ISO induced G0/G1 phase arrest by downregulating p-AKT, Cyclin D, and CDK 4 expression and upregulating p21 and p27 expression in HepG2 cells. Moreover, ISO inhibited HepG2 cell migration by decreasing p-GSK-3ß, ß-catenin, and N-cadherin expression and increasing E-cadherin expression. Additionally, ISO promoted ROS accumulation in HepG2 cells, and ISO-induced apoptosis, arrest cell cycle, and inhibition of migration were reversed by an ROS scavenger, N-acetyl- l-cysteine. Overall, ISO induced cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest and inhibited cell migration by ROS-mediated EGFR, AKT, and MAPK signaling pathways in HepG2 cells.

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer is a common disease with high mortality, and psychological support is very important in the diagnosis and treatment of postoperative patients with cancer pain. AIM: To explore the application effect of the narrative nursing method in postoperative lung cancer patients in the intensive care unit. METHODS: A total of 120 patients diagnosed with lung cancer and experiencing cancer-related pain were randomly allocated into two groups: an observation group and a control group, each consisting of 60 cases. The control group was given routine analgesic and psychological care, while the research group applied the five-step narrative nursing method based on routine care, comparing the visual analogue scale scores, sleep status, anxiety and depression status, and quality of life of the two groups of patients before and after the intervention. RESULTS: The pain scores, anxiety scores, and depression scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group after the intervention using the narrative nursing method, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Using narrative nursing methods to intervene in patients with lung cancer combined with cancerous pain can help patients to correctly recognize their disease, adjust their mentality, establish confidence, alleviate patients' subjective pain feelings, and improve their adverse emotions.

Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease rarely found outside Africa. Monkeypox can be spread from person to person through close contact with an infected person, and the rate of transmission is not very high. In addition, monkeypox and variola virus are both pox viruses, and the spread of monkeypox virus was also controlled to some extent by the smallpox campaign, so monkeypox was not widely paid attention to. However, as smallpox vaccination is phased out in various countries or regions, people's resistance to orthopoxviruses is decreasing, especially among people who have not been vaccinated against smallpox. This has led to a significant increase in the frequency and geographical distribution of human monkeypox cases in recent years, and the monkeypox virus has become the orthopoxvirus that poses the greatest threat to public health. Since the last large-scale monkeypox infection was detected in 2022, the number of countries or territories affected has exceeded 100. Many confirmed and suspected cases of monkeypox have been found in individuals who have not travelled to affected areas, and the route of infection is not obvious, making this outbreak of monkeypox a cause for concern globally. The purpose of this systematic review is to further understand the pathophysiological and epidemiological characteristics of monkeypox, as well as existing prevention and treatment methods, with a view to providing evidence for the control of monkeypox.

We reveal the gate-tunable Berry curvature dipole polarizability in Dirac semimetal Cd_{3}As_{2} nanoplates through measurements of the third-order nonlinear Hall effect. Under an applied electric field, the Berry curvature exhibits an asymmetric distribution, forming a field-induced Berry curvature dipole, resulting in a measurable third-order Hall voltage with a cubic relationship to the longitudinal electric field. Notably, the magnitude and polarity of this third-order nonlinear Hall effect can be effectively modulated by gate voltages. Furthermore, our scaling relation analysis demonstrates that the sign of the Berry curvature dipole polarizability changes when tuning the Fermi level across the Dirac point, in agreement with theoretical calculations. The results highlight the gate control of nonlinear quantum transport in Dirac semimetals, paving the way for promising advancements in topological electronics.

The non-volatile magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM) is believed to facilitate emerging applications, such as in-memory computing, neuromorphic computing and stochastic computing. Two-dimensional (2D) materials and their van der Waals heterostructures promote the development of MRAM technology, due to their atomically smooth interfaces and tunable physical properties. Here we report the all-2D magnetoresistive memories featuring all-electrical data reading and writing at room temperature based on WTe2/Fe3GaTe2/BN/Fe3GaTe2 heterostructures. The data reading process relies on the tunnel magnetoresistance of Fe3GaTe2/BN/Fe3GaTe2. The data writing is achieved through current induced polarization of orbital magnetic moments in WTe2, which exert torques on Fe3GaTe2, known as the orbit-transfer torque (OTT) effect. In contrast to the conventional reliance on spin moments in spin-transfer torque and spin-orbit torque, the OTT effect leverages the natural out-of-plane orbital moments, facilitating field-free perpendicular magnetization switching through interface currents. Our results indicate that the emerging OTT-MRAM is promising for low-power, high-performance memory applications.

Edge supercurrent has attracted great interest recently due to its crucial role in achieving and manipulating topological superconducting states. Proximity-induced superconductivity has been realized in quantum Hall and quantum spin Hall edge states, as well as in higher-order topological hinge states. Non-Hermitian skin effect, the aggregation of non-Bloch eigenstates at open boundaries, promises an abnormal edge channel. Here we report the observation of broad edge supercurrent in Dirac semimetal Cd3As2-based Josephson junctions. The as-grown Cd3As2 nanoplates are electron-doped by intrinsic defects, which enhance the non-Hermitian perturbations. The superconducting quantum interference indicates edge supercurrent with a width of ~1.6 µm and a magnitude of ~1 µA at 10 mK. The wide and large edge supercurrent is inaccessible for a conventional edge system and suggests the presence of non-Hermitian skin effect. A supercurrent nonlocality is also observed. The interplay between band topology and non-Hermiticity is beneficial for exploiting exotic topological matter.

Objective: We aimed to explore the association between obesity and depression and the role of systemic inflammation in older adults. Methods: Adults ≥ 65 years old ( n = 1,973) were interviewed at baseline in 2018 and 1,459 were followed up in 2021. General and abdominal obesity were assessed, and serum C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were measured at baseline. Depression status was assessed at baseline and at follow-up. Logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between obesity and the incidence of depression and worsening of depressive symptoms, as well as the relationship between obesity and CRP levels. The associations of CRP levels with the geriatric depression scale, as well as with its three dimensions, were investigated using multiple linear regressions. Results: General obesity was associated with worsening depression symptoms and incident depression, with an odds ratio ( OR) [95% confidence interval ( CI)] of 1.53 (1.13-2.12) and 1.80 (1.23-2.63), especially among old male subjects, with OR (95% CI) of 2.12 (1.25-3.58) and 2.24 (1.22-4.11), respectively; however, no significant relationship was observed between abdominal obesity and depression. In addition, general obesity was associated with high levels of CRP, with OR (95% CI) of 2.58 (1.75-3.81), especially in subjects free of depression at baseline, with OR (95% CI) of 3.15 (1.97-5.04), and CRP levels were positively correlated with a score of specific dimension (life satisfaction) of depression, P < 0.05. Conclusion: General obesity, rather than abdominal obesity, was associated with worsening depressive symptoms and incident depression, which can be partly explained by the systemic inflammatory response, and the impact of obesity on depression should be taken more seriously in the older male population.

The inhibitory effects of twenty-six ginsenosides on human pancreatic lipase (hPL) and porcine pancreatic lipase (pPL) were studied. Study reveals that nine ginsenosides have moderate inhibitory effects against hPL, and good selectivity over pPL. By contrast, (S)-Rh2 showed good inhibitory effects on pPL over hPL. SAR analysis indicated that introduction of the O-glycosyl group(s) at C-3/C-7 site is unbeneficial for hPL inhibition, ginsenosides with A-skeleton is more beneficial than ginsenosides with B-/C-skeleton. Inhibition kinetic analysis indicated that Rg3 and (S)-Rh2 inhibited hPL-catalyzed DDAO-ol hydrolysis in a mixed manner. Molecular docking studies have confirmed that Rg3 and (S)-Rh2 inhibit hPL via many Pi-hydrogen interactions and hydrogen bonds with catalytic residues of hPL. These results indicated that pPL as an enzyme source could not fully represent the inhibitory effect of the tested compounds on hPL, and hPL should be used as far as possible to evaluate the inhibitory effect of PL.

A set of 22 analogs of licochalcone A was designed and synthesized to explore their potentials as dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) inhibitors with anti-inflammatory effects. The anti-DPP4 effects of these analogs were evaluated using the fluorescent substrate Gly-Pro-N-butyl-4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide (GP-BAN). The nitro-substituted analogue 27 exhibited the most potent activity (Ki = 0.96 µM). A structure-activity relationship investigation revealed that 4-hydroxyl and 5-chloro substituents are essential for DPP4 inhibition, while the 3'-nitro substituent improved both DPP4 inhibition and microsomal stability. Furthermore, compound 27 demonstrated good selectivity for DPP4 over other proteases, including dipeptidyl peptidase 9 (DPP9), thrombin, prolyl endopeptidase (PREP), and fibroblast activation protein (FAP). The cytotoxic effect of 27 was evaluated in cancer cell lines HepG-2 and Caco-2 and in somatic RAW264.7 cells and RPTECs. Compound 27 showed no toxicity to normal cells and weak toxicity to cancer cells. In a living cell imaging assay, 27 blocked the dipeptidase activity of DPP4 in both Caco-2 and HepG-2 cells. This compound also dose-dependently suppressed the expression levels of the chemokines tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß).

Mercury is a highly toxic heavy metal with definite cardiotoxic properties and can affect the health of humans and animals through diet. Selenium (Se) is a heart-healthy trace element and dietary Se has the potential to attenuate heavy metal-induced myocardial damage in humans and animals. This study was designed to explore antagonistic effect of Se on the cardiotoxicity of mercuric chloride (HgCl2) in chickens. Hyline brown hens received a normal diet, a diet containing 250 mg/L HgCl2, or a diet containing 250 mg/L HgCl2 and 10 mg/kg Na2SeO3 for 7 weeks, respectively. Histopathological observations demonstrated that Se attenuated HgCl2-induced myocardial injury, which was further confirmed by the results of serum creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase levels assay and myocardial tissues oxidative stress indexes assessment. The results showed that Se prevented HgCl2-induced cytoplasmic calcium ion (Ca2+) overload and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) Ca2+ depletion mediated by Ca2+-regulatory dysfunction of ER. Importantly, ER Ca2+ depletion led to unfolded protein response and endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), resulting in apoptosis of cardiomyocytes via PERK/ATF4/CHOP pathway. In addition, heat shock protein expression was activated by HgCl2 through these stress responses, which was reversed by Se. Moreover, Se supplementation partially eliminated the effects of HgCl2 on the expression of several ER-settled selenoproteins, including selenoprotein K (SELENOK), SELENOM, SELENON, and SELENOS. In conclusion, these results suggested that Se alleviated ER Ca2+ depletion and oxidative stress-induced ERS-dependent apoptosis in chicken myocardium after HgCl2 exposure.

The glycoprotein hormone (GPH) system is fundamentally significant in regulating the physiology of chordates, such as thyroid activity and gonadal function. However, the knowledge of the GPH system in the primitive chordate ascidian species is largely lacking. Here, we reported an ancestral GPH system in the ascidian (Styela clava), which consists of GPH α subunit (Sc-GPA2), GPH ß subunit (Sc-GPB5), and the cognate leucine-rich repeat-containing G protein-coupled receptor (Sc-GPHR). Comparative structure analysis revealed that distinct from vertebrate GPH ß subunits, Sc-GPB5 was less conserved, showing an atypical N-terminal sequence with a type II transmembrane domain instead of a typical signal peptide. By investigating the presence of recombinant Sc-GPA2 and Sc-GPB5 in cell lysates and culture media of HEK293T cells, we confirmed that these two subunits could be secreted out of the cells via distinct secretory pathways. The deglycosylation experiments demonstrated that N-linked glycosylation only occurred on the conserved cysteine residue (N78) of Sc-GPA2, whereas Sc-GPB5 was non-glycosylated. Although Sc-GPB5 exhibited distinct topology and biochemical properties in contrast to its chordate counterparts, it could still interact with Sc-GPA2 to form a heterodimer. The Sc-GPHR was then confirmed to be activated by tethered Sc-GPA2/GPB5 heterodimer on the Gs-cAMP pathway, suggesting that Sc-GPA2/GPB5 heterodimer-initiated Gs-cAMP signaling pathway is evolutionarily conserved in chordates. Furthermore, in situ hybridization and RT-PCR results revealed the co-expression patterns of Sc-GPA2 and Sc-GPB5 with Sc-GPHR transcripts, respectively in ascidian larvae and adults, highlighting the potential functions of Sc-GPA2/GPB5 heterodimer as an autocrine/paracrine neurohormone in regulating metamorphosis of larvae and physiological functions of adults. Our study systematically investigated the GPA2/GPB5-GPHR system in ascidian for the first time, which offers insights into understanding the function and evolution of the GPH system within the chordate lineage.

A series of carbazole-containing gold(I) complexes modified with different substituents were successfully designed and synthesized, and their molecular structures were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The aggregation-induced behaviors of these gold(I) complexes were studied by ultraviolet/visible and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Meanwhile, their mechanical force-responsive emissive properties were also investigated via solid-state photoluminescence spectroscopy. Interestingly, all these gold(I)-based luminogenic molecules were capable of exhibiting aggregation-induced phosphorescent emission phenomena. Furthermore, their solids of three gold(I) complexes displayed contrasting mechano-responsive phosphorescence features. More specifically, trifluoromethyl or methoxyl-substituted luminophores 1 and 3 demonstrated mechanochromic behaviors involving blue-shifted phosphorescence changes, and their mechanoluminochromic phenomena were reversible. However, the solid-state phosphorescence of phenyl-substituted luminophor 2 was not sensitive to external mechanical force.

One-dimensional (1D) gapless hinge states are predicated in the three-dimensional (3D) higher-order topological insulators and topological semimetals, because of the higher-order bulk-boundary correspondence. Nevertheless, the topologically protected property of the hinge states is still not demonstrated so far, because it is not accessible by conventional methods, such as spectroscopy experiments and quantum oscillations. Here, we reveal the topological nature of hinge states in the higher-order topological semimetal Cd3As2 nanoplate through spin potentiometric measurements. The results of current induced spin polarization indicate that the spin-momentum locking of the higher-order hinge state is similar to that of the quantum spin Hall state, showing the helical characteristics. The spin-polarized hinge states are robust up to room temperature and can nonlocally diffuse a long distance larger than 5µm, further indicating their immunity protected by topology. Our work deepens the understanding of transport properties of the higher-order topological materials and should be valuable for future electronic and spintronic applications.

Background: Primary healthcare professionals were overworked and psychologically overwhelmed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Resilience is an important shield for individuals to cope with psychological stress and improve performance in crises. This study aims to explore the association of individual resilience with organizational resilience, perceived social support and job performance among healthcare professionals in township health centers of China during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Data from 1,266 questionnaires were collected through a cross-sectional survey conducted in December 2021 in Shandong Province, China. Descriptive analysis of individual resilience, organizational resilience, perceived social support, and job performance was conducted. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the correlations among these variables, and structural equation modeling was performed to verify the relationships between these variables. Results: The score of individual resilience was 101.67 ± 14.29, ranging from 24 to 120. Organizational resilience (ß = 0.409, p < 0.01) and perceived social support (ß = 0.410, p < 0.01) had significant direct effects on individual resilience. Individual resilience (ß = 0.709, p < 0.01) had a significant direct effect on job performance. Organizational resilience (ß = 0.290, p < 0.01) and perceived social support (ß = 0.291, p < 0.01) had significant indirect effects on job performance. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the individual resilience of healthcare professionals in township health centers was at a moderate level. Organizational resilience and perceived social support positively affected individual resilience, and individual resilience positively affected job performance. Furthermore, individual resilience mediated the effect of organizational resilience and perceived social support on job performance. It is recommended that multiple stakeholders work together to improve the individual resilience of primary healthcare professionals.

Although sweet tea is rich in bioactive polysaccharides, the knowledge regarding their structures, bioactivities, and gut microbial metabolism is still limited. Therefore, in order to promote the application of sweet tea polysaccharide (STP) in the food industry, the pressurized hot water extraction (PHWE) of STP was optimized, and its structural properties and biological effects as well as microbial fermentation characteristics were investigated. The maximum extraction yield (4.64 % ± 0.03 %) of STP extracted by PHWE was obtained under the optimal conditions. Both homogalacturonan and arabinogalactan might exist as major polysaccharide fragments in STP. Additionally, STP exerted obviously in vitro antioxidant, anti-diabetic, and immunostimulatory effects, which might be related to its chemical properties, such as uronic acids, conjugated polyphenolics, and esterification degree. Furthermore, STP could be consumed by intestinal microbiota, and its fermentability was about 54 % at the end stage of fecal fermentation. Indeed, STP could modulate the microbial composition via improving the growth of several beneficial microbes, causing the release of beneficial short-chain fatty acids. Collectively, the findings indicate that the PHWE is an efficient method for extracting bioactive polysaccharides from sweet tea, and results can also provide a scientific basis for developing STP into functional foods or functional ingredients.

As a classic prescription, Wuji Pills is composed of Coptidis Rhizoma, Euodiae Fructus Preparata, and stir-fried Paeo-niae Radix Alba at the ratio of 6∶1∶6. The practical application of it is limited compared with other famous Chinese medicine prescriptions. Only one company produces Wuji Pills in China. In this study, ultra-performance liquid chromatography quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS) was used to analyze and identify 26 identical compounds from Wuji Pills and drug-containing plasma of rats. Based on these components, 46 potential targets were screened out with network pharmacology methods, followed by the component-target network construction, Gene Ontology(GO) term enrichment, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) pathway enrichment, and disease prediction. It was concluded that Wuji Pills acted on core targets such as PTGS2, PTSG1, NCOA2, HSP9 OAD1, and RXRA through magnoflorine, hydroxyevodiamine, daucosterol, and berberine and exerted pharmacodynamic effects through various pathways such as calcium ion signaling pathway, phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase-protein kinase B(PI3 K-Akt) signaling pathway, and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) signaling pathway. Thus, Wuji Pills has therapeutic potential for Alzheimer's disease, diabetes mellitus, myocardial ischemia, and other diseases in addition to the conventional disease(irritable bowel syndrome, IBS). The above research results can provide a reference for the comprehensive interpretation of the pharmacodynamic basis of Wuji Pills and the expansion of clinical application. At the same time, a lot of components in serum and the in vivo transformed and metabolized components of Wuji Pills have similar structure and relative molecular weight. In theory, these components may show additive effects and the competitive/antagonistic effects on the same target. According to the hypothesis of "additive effect of multiple components for a single target" in traditional Chinese medicine, multiple similar components may exert the additive effects on local targets. This study can partly prove the scientificity of this hypothesis and provide laboratory evidence.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the mechanisms underlying the proliferative inhibition of Chinese herbal medicine Kang-Ai injection (KAI) in gastric cancer cells. METHODS: Gastric cancer cell lines MGC803 and BGC823 were treated by 0, 0.3%, 1%, 3% and 10% KAI for 24, 48 and 72 h, respectively. The cell proliferation was evaluated by 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The apoptosis and cell cycle were evaluated by flow cytometry. Interleukin (IL)-6 mRNA and protein expression levels were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA), respectively. The protein expression levels of cyclin A, cyclin E, cyclin B1, cyclin D1, p21, retinoblastoma (RB), protein kinase B (AKT), extracellular regulated protein kinases (ERK), signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) 1 and STAT3 were detected by Western blot. RESULTS: KAI inhibited the proliferation of MGC803 and BGC823 gastric cancer cells in dose- and time-dependent manner. After treated with KAI for 48 h, the proportion of G1 phase was increased, expression level of cyclin D1 and phosphorylation-RB were down-regulated, whereas the expression of p21 was up-regulated (all P<0.01). Furthermore, 48-h treatment with KAI decreased the phosphorylation level of STAT3, inhibited the mRNA and protein expressions of IL-6 (all P<0.01). IL-6 at dose of 10 ng/mL significantly attenuated the proliferative effect of both 3% and 10% KAI, and recovered KAI-inhibited STAT3 phosphorylation and cyclin D1 expression level (all P<0.01). CONCLUSION: KAI exerted an anti-proliferative function by inhibiting IL-6/STAT3 signaling pathway followed by the induction of G1 phase arrest in gastric cancer cells.

Coptidis Rhizoma is a common Chinese medicinal in clinical practice,with the effects of clearing heat,drying dampness,purging fire,and removing toxin. All the medicinal plants of Coptis can be used for clinical treatment,but some species are endangered due to resource destruction and difficulty in planting. The dominant medicinal components in Coptidis Rhizoma are isoquinoline alkaloids. There are various methods for the analysis and detection of alkaloids,such as LC-MS,HPLC,and TLC,among which LC-MS is the most widely applied. Different plants of Coptis vary in the kind and content of alkaloids. C. chinensis,C. deltoidea,C. teeta,C. chinensis var. brevisepala,C. omeiensis,C. quinquefolia,and C. quinquesecta mainly contain berberine,palmatine,coptisine,jatrorrhizine,and columbamine,five effective alkaloid components. Plant isoquinoline alkaloids( PIAs) have strong pharmacological activity but are difficult to prepare. The application of synthetic biology of PIAs will be helpful for the clinical application of PIAs. This paper reviews the research progress on biological resources of Coptis species and structures of alkaloids as well as analysis methods and synthetic biology for isoquinoline alkaloids in the medicinal plants of Coptis in recent years,which will facilitate the protection of Coptis medicinal resources and the application and development of alkaloids.
